Portrait of Michi in the studio
About MichiA Studio Between Worlds
Working in oil, gouache and ink, Michi builds quiet, layered scenes where botanical detail and old folklore sit side by side. Each piece begins as a sketchbook study and grows slowly, over weeks, into a finished work.
Trained in classical painting and drawn to the strange logic of fairytales, Michi has spent the past decade building a body of work collected by clients across Europe and beyond.
The ProcessFrom Sketchbook to Studio Wall
Every painting starts small — a pencil study, a colour note, a half-remembered image. Only once a composition feels right does it move to canvas, where it's built in slow layers of colour and glaze.
The studio sits on the edge of town, filled with reference books on folklore, botany and old natural history illustration.
